Tracy Watts, trained as an artist and painter at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and at the college’s New York City campus. After working in the art world, as a mould maker and caster, Tracy looked for another way of translating her ideas into a 3 dimensional form.
Having always loved wearing and collecting hats, Tracy discovered the millinery program at the Fashion Institute of Technology. There she trained with Janine Galimard, who worked as a milliner for Balenciaga during the 50’s and 60’s, in Paris. It was the skills taught by Ms. Galimard, that gave Tracy the ability to translate her vision into an object in her hands. Ms. Galimard taught her the art of millinery.
Since 1993, Tracy Watts has been designing, manufacturing and distributing a full line of women’s and men’s designer / contemporary hats. Hats that are meant to give the wearer a chic finish to their attire. Classic’s with a twist.
Pure fur felts, braided straws, Italian wovens, French grosgrain and the softest yarns are used in the innovative collections designed twice a year. All the hats are made to order by hand in Tracy’s Brooklyn studio and workshop. The tracywatts collections are sold to the finest stores in the world. Including Barneys New York, Holt Renfrew Canada, Isetan and Deuxieme Classe Tokyo.
tracywatts hats have been featured in Madonna’s Take a Bow and Music videos and have been worn by such celebrities such as Heidi Klum and Mary J. Blige.
